In August 2018, 15-year-old Greta Thunberg decided to skip school and protest her government's climate inaction. Since then, this one-person initiative has developed into a global movement supported by millions of people. In 2019, inspired by Greta, students from several Canadian cities started to join the "Fridays for Future" school strikes. In October, local environmental leaders joined Greta in Vancouver during an event that gathered thousands of people in the city. This photo essay is about those strikes and other environmental demonstrations in Vancouver.
